Boston Film Academy is built on four pillars:
Creativity. Confidence.
Collaboration. Communication.
And these aren’t just film skills,
they’re life skills.
When students take ownership of their stories and bring them to
life as a team, something transformative happens.
They find their voice. They find their people.
When students take ownership of their stories
and bring them to life as a team,
something transformative happens.
They find their voice. They find their people.
And they begin to see themselves as artists.
Meet The Founder:

He made his first movies at age 11 with his dad’s Hi8 camera and a basement studio he built with friends and support from his middle school. David earned his B.A. in Film Production from Emerson College, where he co-founded Omnes Films, a collaborative film production company whose work has screened at Cannes, AFI Fest, Locarno, and festivals worldwide. He later freelanced on Oscar-nominated and winning films in Los Angeles. Today, David teaches Film & Theatre in Arlington Public Schools and is driven by his mission to help the next generation of storytellers find and utilize their creative intuition.
“A successful classroom is rooted in the shared understanding of a safe, supportive environment. Where no idea is too big, and every idea is attainable. The joy comes from translating our dreams into a shared reality.”
-David Broyles, Founder & Director of Boston Film Academy

Yes, 100%! While there is a structured curriculum, each workshop and film project will develop differently based on the students in that class. Enrolling in multiple classes is an incredible way to expand your child’s collaborative circle. Additionally, you may move your kid up levels, from Beginner to Intermediate, Intermediate to Advanced!
Yes, it is highly encouraged that all parents and guardians come to the Final Film Showcase taking place on Week 6 of the Workshop! Exhibiting films in public spaces, and creating a dialogue between artist and audience, is a fundamental part of the filmmaking process. We further encourage students and families to invite whoever they want to the showcase.
There are currently no scholarships available, but the BFA is actively applying to grants to provide scholarships in the future!
Current enrollment for each Cohort will max out at 12 students per Workshop Level.
Hopefully there aren’t any absences, as the project we work on will be determined by who we have, our collective ideas, and the positions and/or roles we assign for each student. But we understand that life happens! We’ll make changes to roles or positions if needed. There are no refunds for missed classes. Please reference the refund policy above.
